The University of Cebu Webmasters needed more than three full quarters to turn away the stubborn Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats, 74-63, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Incorporated Season 25 Basketball Tournament at the New Cebu Coliseum.
RicoferΒ Sordilla exploded in the opening of the final canto to erase a 50-54 disadvantage and turned the tide to their favor posting aΒ comfortable 14-point lead in the ensuing plays.
Sordilla, who finished with 17 markers, five steals and two assists, to get the Best Player of the Game award.
Danie Boy Lapis and Ray Charles Libatog added 11 and 10 points respectively for the Kern Sesante mentored UC squad, which joined the opening day winners University of San Carlos and Benedicto College for the early 1-0 win-loss lead in the double round robin elimination.
CIT-U’s losing effort was led by Serafin Duarte with a game high 21 point production while Jerian Marc Abello and Keirth Khodie Piodo contributed with 12 and 11 points respectively for the Donbel Belano coached Wildcats.
CIT-U, University of the Philippines Cebu and University of San Jose Recoletos has 0-1 win-loss card.
In the High School Division, University of the Visayas Baby Lancers showed its might as they pummeled Benedicto College Baby Cheetahs, 76-48.
Alexander Jose Ejurango exploded with a double-double performance, 13 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and three blocks to lead the legendary coach Jun Pepito to a rousing debut this season.
Llyco Ventura added 11 for the Baby Lancers.
Lance Andrei Villarin was the most productive with 12 markers for the losing Baby Cheetahs.
