CEBU CITY- No less than NBI Director Melvin Matibag flew in from Manila here to grace a recently opened NBI Satellite Clearance Center.
Its “14th” satellite center within Central Visayas, it is located inside the Ayala Central Bloc in Cebu IT Park.
The NBI top man underscored the opening of the center describing it as a “simbolo (symbol)” of partnership between the goverment and the private sector to serve the people.
“Ngayong araw na ito, Ito po ay simbolo ng pagkakaisa ng private sector ng national government at nang local government para po sa ating mga kababayan,” the NBI Director told the crowd in a brief speech that included NBI Central Visayas Regional Director (RD) Atty. Dominador Cimafranca, newly promoted Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Arnel Pura and other NBI officials and agents.
The recently opened satellite center last October 22 is owned by businessman Wendel Lecen and his wife Iris of Pulco I and E Corp.
The Lecen couple told the local media that the satellite center forms part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) by serving the Cebuano constituents whereby they do not need to queue anymore in the NBI offices just to get NBI clearances.
“They can conveniently get their NBI clearances along with malling, dining or whatever activity they opt to do in Central Bloc,” Lecen told Newstar Philippines in Cebuano.
The Lecen’s also owns a trucking company and a logistics and customs brokerage firm.
RD Cimafranca for his part also thanked the Lecen couple saying the newly satellite center compliments the issuances of NBI clearances in the NBI CEVRO in Brgy. Capitol Site and the NBI Cebu District Office (NBI CEBDO) in Mandaue City./CCO
