It began in the mountains of Cebu.

At just seven years old, Raquel was introduced to cacao. What seemed like an ordinary childhood memory would eventually become the seed of an extraordinary purpose.

Years later, in 2008, she experienced a life-changing realization: the cacao fruit she had known since childhood was the very source of chocolate. That discovery awakened something deeper within her. Chocolate was no longer merely food or business—it became a powerful language for sharing the Philippine story with the world.

From that moment on, her mission expanded beyond crafting fine chocolates. She set out to champion Filipino cacao, create sustainable opportunities for farming communities, inspire entrepreneurship, preserve cultural traditions, and position the Philippines on the global map of premium chocolate.

Her journey has never been without challenges.

It demanded unwavering faith, relentless perseverance, countless sacrifices, and the courage to keep moving forward despite uncertainty. But whenever people praise her determination, Raquel offers a gentle correction.

On August 12, Raquel will take Philippine cacao to another global platform as a featured speaker at the World Affairs Council Speaker Series in Las Vegas, following the invitation of Immediate Past President Consul Lena Walther of Sweden and Honorary Consul Astra Juliana Michels of Lithuania.

Her participation highlights how cacao has evolved beyond a commodity. It has become a powerful instrument of cultural diplomacy—strengthening friendships, fostering international collaboration, and showcasing the richness of Philippine heritage on the world stage.
