CEBU CITY- Nestled within the strategically located 300 hectare South Road Properties (SRP) here the MP Coffee flagship store had its groundbreaking with Manny Pacquiao (MP) himself leading the launching activity last Sunday, May 31, 2026.
“Kining MP Coffee na establish natin dito, eto na ang magiging simula ng iiwan nating legacy pagdating ng panahon. Hindi man tayo forever dito sa mundo but etong business nato, we are hoping na mudaghan (This MP Coffee that we established here will start the legacy that we will leave when the time comes. We won’t stay forever in this world and so we are hoping that this business will multiply),” Pacquiao said in a mixture of Cebuano and English in his brief but impactful speech during the launching event which had Cebu City Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Ako Bisaya Congressman Sonny Lagon as among its guests.
The erstwhile Philippine senator and boxing’s only “8 division world boxing champion” told those in attendance in the City de Mare of Filinvest Land Inc. that investing in Cebu is something that he had in mind for years since Cebu is close to his heart because their roots are from the town of Pinamungajan, a municipality in the southwestern part of Cebu Province
His father Rosalio is from Barangay Guimbawian, Pinamungajan who migrated to Mindanao and married his mother Dionisia, also a migrant from Inopacan. Leyte.
The MP Coffee will be trailblazing as it will feature a coffee ecosytem- roastery, coffee academy, coffee bar, restaurant, merchandise center and interactive exhibit that will feature Manny Pacquiao’s quest from poverty to being an international celebrity whose “heart for the poor” is known the world over.
The Pacquiao led coffee company also intends to establish kiosks all over the country called the “MP Punch” which will be put up in airports, major terminals and tourism hubs where all there products will be made available to paying customers and patrons.
What will be unique also with the MP Cofeee is their goal to have all their coffee products sourced from local coffee farmers instead of relying on imported products as the company envisions to help the Filipino coffee farmers and encourage more to raise coffee in their farms.
With a P200 million capitalization MP Coffee incorporators include Dr. Gaye Yapha, Bais City councilor Bimbong Megio, Architect Yen Alforque, Architect Theone Manigos, logistics operator/trucker Wendel Lecen, Ms. Belinda Varquez, Mr. Milay Alcaraz and Mr. Wikz Gaudan.
