CEBU CITY- The Arnis de Caballes from Ormoc City copped 19 golds medals to dominate Doce Pares Incorporated’s Inter Barangay/Club Tournament dubbed as Bahug Bahug sa Mabolo over the weekend at the Mabolo Elementary School here.
Leonardo Lao IV led the visiting eskrima club in completing a sweep of all his three events in Sparring Competitions, Single Stick Boy’s Bantamweight 13-14 years old, Double Stick Boy’s Bantamweight 13-14 years old and Padded Stick Boy’s Bantamweight 13-14 years old.
The other triple gold winners were Christian Formentera (Traditional Anyo Men’s Open Weapon, Single Stick Men’s Middleweight and Padded Stick Men’s Middleweight), Serge Miyu De Castro (Traditional Anyo Boy’s 18 Below, Single Stick Boy’s Bantamweight 15-17 years old and Double Stick Boy’s Bantamweight 15-17 years old) and Hannah Filliza Manto (Single Stick Girl’s Featherweight 15-17 years old, Double Stick Girl’s Lightweight 15-17 years old and Padded Stick Girl’s Featherweight 15-17 years old).
Rhona Pornel added two more gold podium finishes in the Single Stick and Double Stick Girl’s Super Bantamweight 15-17 years old.
Rounding up Arnis de Caballes golden eskrimadors were Graica Jane Bugtay (Traditiona Anyo Girls 18 years old below), Reynan Tabucal (Single Stick Boy’s 10-12 years old), Ammon John De Castro (Single Stick Boy’s Lightweight 15-17 years old), Jan Emman Danola (Double Stick Boy’s Lightweight (15-17 years old) and Yanny Galapin (Single Stick Girls 13-14 years old).
Arnis de Caballes Ormoc also garnered six (6) silvers and four (4) bronzes.
Home team Mabolo Arnis All Star settled for the second over all rank with 14-12-2 gold-silver-bronze haul while Sidlak Loon Arnis Club from Bohol completed the top three clubs with 5-12-4 g-s-b harvest.
The Doce Pares Inc. headed by SGM Dong Cuesta, ODL was elated with the outcome of Bahug Bahug sa Mabolo. “With the success, we are looking forward to the next edition in Cebu City South district in the next two months. The success was a team effort from organizing committee, officials, participants and their respective supporters.”
The Bahug Bahug sa Mabolo was also participated by the following clubs Orihinal Doce Pares led by by SGM Cano Canete and Master Dovie Canete, Doce Pares Eskrima Academy, Patrod Eskrima Club, Liloan Mixed Martial Arts Club, Labangon Eskrima Kali Arnis Club, Hinigaran Arnis Training Center, Bohol Balintawak Arnis Federation, Eskrima Foundation, Kritters Marapao Aggression, World Nickelstick Eskrima Club, Eskrima Cuentada, Eskrima de Abanico Master Soronio House ug Eskrima de Cadena.
