LAPU-LAPU CITY- While hitting their assigned monthly revenue target for the 9th consecutive time for 2025, the Bureau of Customs in the Subport of Mactan here also gave relief aid for the victims of the earthquake in the City of Bogo, Northern Cebu.

The men and women of the Subport led by no less than Subport Collector Gerardo Campo persevered in travelling for at least 10 hours because of the traffic gridlock and went straight to the “ground zero” of the Magnitude 6.9 earthquake over the weekend where they had an audience with Bogo Mayor Ma. Cielo “Mayel” Martinez who thanked them for their effort.

“Thank you Bureau of Customs for extending your support to the City of Bogo 💚,” Mayor Martinez in a post through her official social media page said.

The quake past 9pm last October 2 resulted to 71 fatalities, 32 of them from Bogo, 15 in San Remegio, 14 in Medellin, 5 in Tabogon, 2 in Tabuelan and 1 each from Sogod and Oslob.

At least P3 billion infrastructure projects were also damaged apart from the several thousand residents who were affected and aftershocks were still being felt as of press time.

Meanwhile, the Subport collected P171, 742, 150.62 for September gaining a surplus collection of P52, 062, 150. 62 (43.50% positive deviation) compared to its assigned target of P119, 680, 000.00.

The collection data prepared by Subport cashier Liezl Letigio further revealed that the Subport is just short of a little over P32 million to finally hit its P1, 580, 830, 000.00 assigned revenue target for 2025 as its assessment division led by Deputy Collector for Assessment Nellie Wilwayco and OIC for Passenger Services Jay Oyao already collected P1, 542, 476, 389. 90.

Hitting the annual collection then by October is a foregone conclusion as the Subport has average monthly collection of P171, 000, 000.00.

Ably assisting Collector Campo in running the Subport is Deputy Collector Verlito Ajos, a seasoned assessment division officer and has vast experience in airport operations particularly in the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

The main port, the Port of Cebu, led by district collector Atty. Geoffrey De Vera also hit its assigned September revenue collection it was learned but the entire data is not readily available as of posting time./CCO
