Tuburan coffee CEO Democrito “Aljun” Diamante has been tapped as one of the panelist of the forthcoming “AgriBusiness Connect” national confab slated this September 28, 2025 at the Elements at Centrist in Diliman, Quezon City.
Principally credited for overturning the once obscure town into becoming the “Coffee capital of Cebu”, Diamante who started his coffee farming advocacy in 2012, is expected to share his success story into making “Tuburan coffee” a house hold name.
Several thousands of hectares of land in his native town are now planted with coffee thus turning the local farmers therein as coffee farmers.
The erstwhile Tuburan Mayor who had 15-years of political journey (he finished his three year term from 2010-2019; Vice Mayor from 2019-2022; returned as Mayor from 2022-2025 but opted to give way to his son Engr. Christian Daniel “CD” who run uncontested as Mayor last May 12) worked doubly hard to propagate their own coffee produce and as they say, the rest is history as Tuburan coffee is not only marketed in the Philippines but abroad as well.
Prior to his scheduled appearance in the AgriBusiness Connect confab which will also have exhibits, Diamante also spoke in the recent “Agri’Konek Food Summit 2025” in the Cebu Provincial Capitol organized by no less than the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
Hotelier/agripreneur Benedict Que was tapped by CCCI President Jay Yuvallos to be the summit’s over-all chair which also invited Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as one of their guest speakers albeit via zoom online.
Another known discussant in the summit was Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte Vice Mayor Ronnel Arnado, also the town’s former Mayor, who showcased his “From Arms to Farms Model” in organic farming.
Arnado successfully convinced former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebel leaders to embraced peace and turned themselves productive as organic farmers.
In Diamante’s case, his Tuburan Coffee sojourn literally improved the lives of his townmates because many children of farmers became successful themselves since many of them finished their college degrees hence they are now bonafide professionals.
That is because of one single man, who fought life challenges himself before he became what he is today, walking several kilometers daily from their house in the hinterlands to the town proper to finished high school and later as “dishwasher” in downtown Cebu City to support his college studies. He returned to his town in 2010 offering his self as an alternative to a once dominant political family, won the hearts of the people, planted coffee later on and revolutionized it to the fullest thus turning it into an advocacy of “Poverty alleviation through agriculture.” Hail to the man, Aljun Diamante, the founder of Tuburan coffee, touched the lives of his townmates, uplifted their economic status making them contented and comfortable as proud people of Tuburan town.
